My review of the HTC One M8 is here! Finally a worthy replacement for my One M7 from a year ago. This phone features a stunning ID, lightning fast performance, and aside from a couple of small complaints... is damn near as good as it gets. I hope you guys enjoy this video because I feel like now, one year into doing phone reviews, this is about as good as we can make them... It's a lot of work, but if you guys enjoy it, then it's all worthwhile.... The HTC One M8 review begins by establishing the device as a worthy successor to the M7, focusing on a premium feel, refined construction, and a strong emphasis on hardware quality. The host walks through the physical design, noting the brushed metal back, flawless fit between metal and glass, and the seamless edges that evoke a premium hand feel. He compares the chassis to other flagship designs and highlights how HTC increased metal content from 70% to 90%, which translates into a sturdier, more solid in-hand impression. The 5-inch display is praised for its glass protection with Gorilla Glass 3, while haptic feedback and color performance are discussed, with subjective impressions of warmth and accuracy that vary versus other flagships. Beyond the look and feel, the review acknowledges practical tradeoffs such as the non-removable battery and the absence of a microSD slot, framing these as compromises against the device’s premium build and feature set. The host then transitions to use-case demonstrations and quick hardware notes like the IR emitter, gesture-based wake features, and the repositioning of buttons, underscoring how these contribute to everyday usability and a sense of immediacy in interaction.

Questions answered
- What makes the HTC One M8 feel premium in hand compared to the M7?
- The M8 uses a higher proportion of metal, refined seamless edges, and a near-perfect metal-glass join which results in a sturdier, more premium feel.
- Why is the absence of a microSD slot a noted downside?
- Because users lose expandable storage options, which HTC keeps absent in favor of a unibody build and other design choices.
- How does the camera system on the M8 perform for everyday use?
- The UltraPixel back camera benefits from faster shutter speeds and a two-tone flash for better flesh tones, providing good results that satisfy typical Instagram and video-shot needs, though it lacks optical image stabilization.
