I bought an abandoned E46 BMW M3 Laguna Seca Blue that had clearly spent a lot of time sitting by a track, and this video documents the initial assessment and first steps of a bolt for bolt restoration journey. The host explains that the car likely lived most of its life as a track day car, which explains the wear on the interior and the various quirks that come with an older high-performance machine. He starts by confirming the car runs, noting the S54 engine feels sweet for a nearly 20 year old unit, and he outlines immediate plans to perform a basic service as the foundation for a much larger restoration. The narrative then shifts to identifying critical issues, including a known rear subframe problem, possible hydraulic and belt concerns, and a battery in need of replacement, all of which set the stage for a methodical teardown. Throughout, the host emphasizes that this is a long term project and that the goal is a faithful restoration rather than flashy modifications, inviting audience input on direction. Finally, the video pivots to a teaser about the price paid, inviting viewers to weigh whether nine and a half thousand pounds was a bargain or overpayment, while promising more content in future installments of the build. The overall tone blends optimism with realism, acknowledging the car's flaws while highlighting the potential for a true comeback with careful attention to mechanicals and bodywork. The host also teases the broader plan to maintain the original spirit of the vehicle while exploring improvements that can bring it back to roadworthy condition and, eventually, to showpiece status.
