Notes
I bought a barn find BMW E24 635CSI and the video traces the arduous, hands-on journey of bringing a neglected classic back to life. The project begins with the seller discovering a barn-stashed car from 1989, a chassis that carries bold styling, a shark-nose front, and surprisingly well-preserved interior features like electronically adjustable seats, power windows, and air conditioning. The host explains that the car has rust in multiple spots and that its history is murky, with the engine not running and the ignition system potentially spliced or damaged over the years. He recounts the plan to investigate, assess the car’s condition, and pick through the electrical and mechanical hurdles that stand in the way of a first start. The episode frames restoration as a learning process, emphasizing patience, methodical diagnosis, and the thrill of reviving an iconic German grand tourer rather than simply buying a turnkey project. By presenting the car’s early assets and obvious trouble spots, the video establishes a clear trajectory for ongoing work and future updates. The host also introduces a sponsor, CarVertical, to illustrate how vehicle history reports can aid buyers in assessing used cars, which ties into the broader theme of careful pre-purchase evaluation. The tone remains enthusiastic and instructive as viewers are invited to follow along on a multi-part restoration journey that will cover sourcing parts, troubleshooting, and potential modifications to modernize the E24 while retaining its classic character.
