this is one of the first coolers noctua ever released back in 2005 but how different is it really from a product you'd buy from them today we can find out but first we're going to need some new hardware so we can mount it to a modern platform what's crazy though is that won't cost us any money if you still have your original proof of purchase 18 years later you can request a mounting kit and nocto will send it to you for free an obligatory plug for the nocta edition of the LTD screwdriver and to fire our two identical benches over to the lab for testing and in a big surprise to everyone it turns out nocta has been doing stuff for the last 20 years the new cooler performed 8° better while being8 DB quieter but that doesn't mean we didn't find some surprises when we swapped the new fan onto the old heat sink we found that performance difference drops to just 3° so if you want to save some money maybe reuse that old heat sink and just treat yourself to a new fan
