Check if your car was damaged with Car Vertical - 10% off here carvertical.com After i bought Adam Lz's old Porsche 911 992 GT3 in Florida i didnt realise how difficult it would be to find parts. Porsche in the US cannot sell you structural parts so to fix the structural damage i had to buy parts from UK Porsche and take them in my luggage. Only issue is i can't take airbags on the flight, so im hoping US Porsche will sell me them.

REBUILDING A WRECKED PORSCHE 911 GT3 | PART 4 follows the ongoing rebuild of a Porsche 911 GT3 damaged in an accident, with the team navigating parts sourcing, assembly, and initial testing. The video opens with the crew revisiting Miami Porsche to confirm which parts can be purchased directly, revealing the tension around US dealerships restricting structural components to certified repair shops. The narrator explains sourcing structural parts from the UK to bypass these restrictions, and the crew confronts the logistical headache of transporting and handling airbags that cannot be carried by air travel. This segment underscores the complexity of rebuilding a high-end modern car and sets up the key dilemma of whether US and UK suppliers can coordinate to supply all necessary components. As the build advances, the team checks progress on the front tub, rivet work, and A-pillar modifications, while also discussing the legality and safety implications of the airbag system and its wiring.

Questions answered
- What made sourcing parts particularly challenging for this Porsche rebuild?
- The US would not sell structural parts to non-certified repairers, so the team had to source those structural components from UK Porsche and bring airbags and other parts back as luggage, creating logistical and regulatory hurdles.
- What is the significance of the airbags and their wiring in this rebuild?
- Airbags are critical for safety, but their installation requires correct wiring looms and correct placement; the team notes that a melted old airbag and the new wiring loom may affect horn and airbag functionality, influencing start-up tests.
- How did the team test the car’s readiness after assembly?
- They performed a strength test to verify structural integrity and then proceeded with power-up checks, confirming airbag deployment readiness and horn operation after wiring and component installation.
- What insight does the video offer about modern Porsche parts sourcing and cost?
- It highlights the high costs of new Porsche parts in the US, the viability of sourcing from the UK, and the potential to reuse or adapt parts from related models like the Carrera 4S, with careful consideration of part numbers and compatibility.
