Description
I'm messaging from the MacBook is awesome but what if you're an iPhone user stuck with a Windows PC well you're in luck thanks to the updated Windows Phone link app look blue bubbles to and fro a Huawei laptop don't share my secrets it's cool that all your notifications show up here but there are however a few asterisks because this uses the same Bluetooth notification system designed for cars there is absolutely no message history at all and new messages are wiped whenever you close the app if your phone is open or you send a message from it it won't appear here either only messages sent from your computer also no picture or video messages typing indicators reactions or group iMessage conversations darn and maybe I should stick to it thank you
The short discusses the possibility of using iMessage on a Windows PC via the updated Windows Phone Link app. It highlights the core functionality: messages appear on the PC, and notifications are mirrored from the iPhone; however, the implementation has notable limitations. There is no message history available, and new messages are erased when the app is closed. If the iPhone is open or a message is sent from it, those messages may not appear on the PC, confining the experience to messages sent from the computer itself. The video also notes that there are no pictures or video messages, no typing indicators, no reactions, and no group iMessage conversations. The presenter suggests that this is useful for some scenarios but clearly falls short of full iMessage parity with macOS or iOS. The discussion implicitly compares this to other cross-platform options like third-party tools or alternative ecosystems and invites viewers to weigh convenience against privacy and completeness of the messaging experience. Overall, the short presents a cautious optimism about cross-device messaging on non-Apple hardware while calling out concrete gaps that reduce practicality for everyday use.
