The short centers on why Apple continues to sell the Apple Watch Series 3 despite newer models. The speaker contrasts the Series 3 with the Series 7, noting practical differences such as faster charging, sleep tracking, and the ability to connect to a treadmill more quickly on the newer model. They also mention a keyboard feature that appears to be available on the Series 7, which is framed as a capability not present on the older model. Throughout the discussion, the speaker evaluates whether the Series 3 still meets everyday needs, suggesting that for many users the Series 3 already covers essential functions like activity tracking and notifications, even though it may lag behind in updates. The exchange with another person (Arthur) highlights how different features are valued in real-world use, such as updating speed, app launch times, and screen size. The overall takeaway is that while the Series 7 offers notable enhancements, the Series 3 remains a viable option for users who want a more affordable device that still satisfies core smartwatch needs, provided they can tolerate slower updates and older hardware. The video ends with a pragmatic verdict: if the Series 3 satisfies you now, it might still be the better buy compared with upgrading for every new feature, unless sleep tracking or newer performance are priorities.
