The Proteus Core is a very interesting new mouse and a big step away from the G500s. Some things that I would like to add that don't seem to have made it into the final cut for this video is that having the left and right click is on two completely different pieces of plastic and are not connected at all. also that there are mechanical switches under every button not just the L and R buttons. Also that it has a very nice sleeved cable and that it is able to tune itself to most surfaces that you can put it on so if you were to put it on a nice mouse-pad or even a ripped up pizza box lid at a LAN you will be able to get the best experience possible which I have to say is pretty freakin awesome! The video covers the Logitech G502 Proteus Core presentation at PAX East 2014, highlighting a brand new sensor and a redesigned weight system. The host explains that this mouse is a departure from the G500 line, emphasizing a unique sensor claimed to be the most accurate available at the time, with no acceleration and other advanced features to be explored in a fuller review later. Weight adjustment is redesigned to sit on a bottom plate, so adding mass does not shift the center of gravity, a detail the host appreciates for preserving feel during use. Improvements to the scroll wheel are also noted, including a more tactile and metal-like click, while a free spin mode is retained for rapid scrolling in large documents or web pages. The video frames the product within the PAX East experience, mentioning Intel and Corsair sponsorship, and teases forthcoming office testing and a more comprehensive review. Overall, the piece blends hands-on impressions with context about Logitech’s design direction, aiming to reassure viewers that the Proteus Core offers meaningful evolutions over the G500 series and could become a preferred choice for both gaming and productivity.
