Description
Today I have a couple of unique products from a relatively new company in the "gaming gear" market. The headphones have SURPRISINGLY good sound isolation (they are "closed" headphones) and equally surprising sound quality compared to similarly priced gaming products, but the build quality leaves a bit to be desired. The mouse pad isn't my favourite, but I don't really like fast mouse pads, so that could be the problem.
The video opens with Linus unboxing two Zowie Gear products, a Hammer gaming headset and a G-TF cloth mouse pad, while noting he is in the cameraman’s office and returning to work after a bout with swine flu. He explains that he knows little about Zowie beyond their focus on gaming peripherals and that these are evaluation units not yet carried by the channel. The headset is described as light and highly comfortable, featuring a large microphone and a closed-back design that yields better sound isolation and directionality at the expense of some bass. Linus points out that the included cable has a mic switch and volume control, and mentions a compact extension cable and replaceable foam ear pads as practical accessories. He tests the physical build, finds the overall quality not exceptionally premium but adequate for its class, and highlights the closed design as a key characteristic affecting sound staging. He then moves to the G-TF cloth mouse pad, emphasizing its large size and a coating that mimics plastic-fast performance on a cloth surface, comparing it to steelseries 5L in concept. Linus offers his impressions on glide, edge weave, and the rubberized back, noting the pad’s thickness and its potential to resist fraying compared with his current pad, while also demonstrating the grip on the desk. The video wraps with his closing remarks thanking viewers for checking out the unboxing and giving a quick summary of both products, reinforcing the balance between comfort, isolation, and surface performance for gamers who value audio clarity and large, stable mouse surfaces.
