Check if your car was damaged with Car Vertical - 10% off here carvertical.com Im rebuilding a crash damaged C63 AMG. Theres damage to the car all over but the worst part is definitely the front end. I need to drop and replace the subframe to replace 2 parts of the engine sump & whilst the subframe is down i thought it would be a good opportunity to do the exhaust headers and down pipes.

Notes
BRUTAL EXHAUST INSTALLED TO MY WRECKED MERCEDES C63 AMG chronicles a high-stakes salvage rebuild where a crash-damaged C63 AMG is rebuilt with a focus on replacing the front-end damage, dropping the subframe, and upgrading the exhaust system. The video delves into the complexities of removing a heavily damaged subframe, supporting the engine with a red brace, and detaching the steering rack and suspension arms to free the subframe. Viewers are walked through the process of removing and replacing damaged sumps, mishandled components, and the front-end structure, while also detailing practical challenges like seized bolts and the need for second-hand parts to keep costs reasonable. The host documents the moment of truth when the new long tube headers, down pipes, and a partial exhaust are installed, with emphasis on how these modifications impact performance and sound. Throughout, there is a practical focus on oil sealing, gasket sealer application, and iterative testing to ensure the engine remains oil tight and capable of starting after substantial repair work. The narrative culminates in a first start with the new exhaust configuration, revealing a dramatically louder and more aggressive tone than stock, and the excitement around hearing the car run as the team evaluates the viability of the rebuild. The video closes with reflections on the car’s condition, the value of salvage car knowledge, and a nod to community appreciation for the project’s progression and the creator’s enthusiasm. The overall arc blends mechanical problem solving, upgrade planning, and the anticipation of a transformed driving experience despite the car’s earlier wrecked state.

Questions answered
- What parts were replaced to address the engine sump damage in the C63 AMG build?
- The front and rear sumps were removed and replaced, with gasket sealer used on the new sumps to ensure oil tightness, and the oil pickup and return pipes checked during the process.
- Why were long tube headers chosen for this build, and what challenges did the install present?
- Long tube headers were chosen to increase exhaust flow and sound, with a down pipe included. The install presented challenges due to heavily rusted bolts from extended exposure, requiring careful removal and sometimes nonstandard tools.
- What role did the subframe play in the rebuild, and how was it addressed?
- The subframe, which was damaged, had to be removed and replaced with a secondhand unit. Engine mounts and the steering rack were reattached to the new subframe to restore alignment and support.
- What was the immediate test result after installing the new exhaust components?
- After wiring and mounting the exhaust components, the engine was started and warmed up, producing a notably louder and more aggressive exhaust note than the stock system, signaling a successful modification.
