Hannah finally got behind the wheel of my Audi TT MK2, after it had been restored. Originally i planned to do a mod to the exhaust but the weather was bad and we ran out of time. So something i have been asked before was the running cost of the TT so here's a quick video on all the ins and out like fuel cost, insurance & general maintenance. Folllow Me - @matarmstrongbmx @matarmstrongbmx
The video centers on Hannah discussing the real world running costs of owning a 2006-2009 Audi TT Mk2 with Mat Armstrong. It opens with a setup that including owning the car after a restoration and a brief note about plans for an exhaust mod that didn’t happen due to weather and time. Hannah walks through the key cost pillars of ownership, starting with the initial purchase price three years prior, which was around £7,500, and the insurance history, including a prior crash that led to a payout of about £4,500. The segment then dives into ongoing expenses such as fuel, with a transparent calculation of around £40 per week delivering roughly 200 miles, and fuel type details including V-Power consumption estimates. The discussion also covers maintenance items that have arisen, like CV joints and sticking calipers, highlighting that the overall running cost is comparatively affordable for a performance-oriented GTI-style car. The host contrasts initial expectations with the actual ownership experience, emphasizing that the TT Mk2 remains cheap to run relative to some rivals, while also noting the impact of past incidents on insurance costs and the current policy setup. The closing portion invites questions about long-term ownership, summarizes the main cost categories, and encourages viewers to subscribe for more content about the car and potential future upgrades.

Questions answered
- What was the initial purchase price of the Audi TT Mk2 and how did insurance costs change after the accident?
- The TT Mk2 was bought for about £7,500 three years ago. Insurance costs increased after the driver had a license violation and an accident, with the private policy rising to around £1,500 annually from £800 when Hannah had it first, and the accident history affecting the overall premium.
- How are running costs such as fuel calculated, and what is the rough weekly fuel expenditure?
- Fuel costs are estimated at about £40 per week, which buys roughly 200 miles using 30 liters of V-Power fuel, translating to a practical balance of performance and economy for the 2.0 FSI engine.
- What maintenance items were encountered and how expensive were they to fix?
- Maintenance included replacing two brake calipers due to sticking, and a CV joint issue. The calipers were not very expensive, and the CV joint repair was relatively affordable, contributing to a generally low ongoing maintenance burden for the car at around 90,000 miles on the odometer at the time of those fixes.
