The video documents the process of upgrading an Audi R8 V8 with an Armytrix valved exhaust system. The creator starts by unveiling the new exhaust, noting that the R8 already has a Milltek setup but that the Armytrix upgrade would significantly change the sound and performance. He walks through the components included in the box, identifies the main unit, the tips, and the wiring harness, and explains how the exhaust is routed near the rear of the car due to the placement of the V8 engine. The build requires removing elements of the rear bumper and surrounding bodywork to access the exhaust area, and the creator emphasizes careful handling to avoid damage to the car finishing and the wrap while performing the installation. After removing the old exhaust and heat shield, he fits the Armytrix system, reassembles the bumper, and hooks up the electronic vacuum-actuated valves that control the exhaust note, highlighting the effort involved and the anticipation of a dramatic change in sound. With the system in place, the video demonstrates the operation of the valve actuators controlled via a vacuum line and an OBD-linked controller, presenting three distinct modes: beast mode for maximum volume, neighborhood mode for a more restrained tone during cold starts, and an intelligent mode that adapts the exhaust opening based on RPM and driving speed. The creator powers the car up for the first time with the new system, and the immediate result is a screaming, attention-grabbing soundtrack that fills the neighborhood with a controlled but aggressive roar. He also showcases the visual upgrade of V10-style exhaust tips painted in black, which fit the rear bumper and add to the car’s aesthetic. Throughout, the video includes live demonstrations of the app and dashboard readouts, allowing viewers to monitor live data such as speed, RPM, oil temperature, and throttle position while the exhaust tone is adjusted. Finally, the video emphasizes the versatility and excitement of the new Armytrix exhaust, including details about the app’s live data feed and tone controls, and ends with the creator reflecting on the transformative effect of the exhaust on the R8’s driving experience. He notes that the sound shifts dramatically with valve position and driving mode, making the car more enjoyable to drive. The install is portrayed as achievable for DIY enthusiasts, with the implications that the exhaust can enhance performance feel and auditory presence on the road, while also suggesting future dyno testing to quantify any power gains.
