This is a video i didn't want to make.. I have done so many miles in my Lamborghini Gallardo since installing the twin turbo kit. But a few 1/4 mile drag races at Santapod with @MarkMcCann64 caused catastrophic failure. In this video i try to inspect and fix the issue as cheap as i possibly could & with the money saved i went to surprise a subscriber.
Follow Me Here Aswell
The video follows Mat Armstrong as he investigates a costly problem on his Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, originally reported as a £2995 fix for an issue that surfaced after a pair of drag races. Early on, the host notices an oil leak from the front differential area after a recent track session, prompting a thorough inspection once the car is on the lift. He discovers metal filings on a magnetic drain plug, indicating significant internal damage to the front differential. The narrative then shifts to teardown work, including disconnecting drive shafts and the front prop shaft, with the strain of the car’s all wheel drive system explained as a likely cause of overheating and damage. Throughout, there is a strong emphasis on cost-saving tries, such as comparing prices between Lamborghini and Audi for a new front differential and evaluating the feasibility of a cheaper repair path. With the diagnosis laid out, Mat explores a bold alternative: converting the car from all wheel drive to rear wheel drive by removing the front differential, drive shafts, and prop shaft. The process is detailed, from lifting and removing bolts to carefully freeing the front diff and preparing the car for a major weight reduction. He calculates the weight savings, noting the front diff, driveshafts, and prop shaft together save roughly a third of a ton, and he witnesses how reduced rotating mass affects handling and acceleration. The video then pivots to practical considerations of a rear wheel drive setup, including potential benefits such as reduced clutch wear, less transmission loss, and improved feel, alongside drawbacks like increased rear tire wear and steering changes. The drive toward a two wheel experience is tested with careful driving impressions, culminating in a sense of excitement about the new setup and its potential to transform how the Gallardo performs. As the build concludes, the host reveals a heartfelt philanthropic moment. He explains a subscriber’s purchase of merchandise in support of the channel, then reveals a cash donation and a package of hoodies sent to a deserving recipient, Molly, a student paramedic. The surprise donation, totaling 1500 pounds, is presented as a thank you for Molly’s service, and the moment is framed as an example of the channel’s community spirit and commitment to helping others. The video closes with gratitude to viewers, a call to subscribe and like for more content, and a teaser of future projects, including the ongoing project of the rear wheel drive Lamborghini build. Overall, the video blends technical car work, bold modification decisions, and a genuine philanthropic gesture that reinforces the creator’s values and connection with the audience.

Questions answered
- What caused the oil leak in the Lamborghini Gallardo?
- The oil leak originated from the front differential, where metal filings indicated internal damage likely due to overheating from the four-wheel-drive system during aggressive driving.
- Why did the author consider converting to rear-wheel drive?
- Removing the front differential and front drive components reduces weight and transmission losses, potentially increasing rear-wheel horsepower delivery and simplifying the drivetrain for a more aggressive, responsive feel.
- How was the front diff issue resolved in terms of cost?
- Prices from Lamborghini and Audi for a front differential were checked, revealing cost differences, and the plan was to consider a cheaper or used alternative if feasible, while exploring a complete rear-wheel-drive conversion as the primary modification.
- What charitable moment is featured in the video?
- The host surprises Molly, a student paramedic and supporter of the channel, with hoodies and 1500 pounds in cash, demonstrating the creator’s commitment to giving back to viewers and those in need.
