Description

Got these in the mail today and thought I'd give you all a quick look at them. This is the brand new XAI laser gaming mouse from Steelseries and one of their new gaming surfaces, the 4HD. Spent some time using them tonight and while I really like the tracking on the XAI, the ergonomics are just not up to par with the Ikari Laser (my current favourite). The 4HD doesn't do anything for me (cloth user), but the medium-rough surface user in the house really likes it so far.

The video opens with Linus introducing a new unboxing series focusing on SteelSeries gear, featuring the SteelSeries 4HD gaming mouse pad and the XAI laser gaming mouse. He demonstrates the packaging process, breaking the seal on the mouse and then pulling out the pad, describing the product packaging as a clamshell design and noting the mouse's four buttons, DPI switch, wheel, and left and right click with a laser gaming engine. The XAI is described as a laser sensor mouse, offering high precision for gaming, while the 4HD mouse pad is shown as a semi-hard surface with a textured bottom that resists sliding. Linus experiments with the tracking on a Mac, humorously commenting on Macs for gaming, and provides first impressions of ergonomics and glide. He compares the XAI’s tracking favorably but signals that ergonomics do not surpass his current favorite, the Ikari Laser, and concludes with a lighthearted wrap that previews future reviews of SteelSeries peripherals. The overall vibe is a candid, early-era tech unboxing from Linus Tech Tips, balancing practical observations with light humor about hardware design and platform quirks.
