Head to squarespace.com to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code - matarmstrong I risked it all when buying this cheap 2019 Aston Martin Vantage. The car was bought a a non runner and i spent alot of the the last video trying to get the car started. In this video i begin to strip the parts from the car to work out what exactly is damage and how much this rebuild is going to cost me. But i was shocked by the price Aston Martin wanted for some of the smallest parts.

REBUILDING A WRECKED 2019 ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE | PT1 follows Matt Armstrong as he confronts a high-stakes salvage rebuild of a 2019 Aston Martin Vantage purchased as a non-runner. The opening sequence sets the stakes, as he explains the decisions behind buying the damaged vehicle and the promise of a cost-conscious restoration. The video documents the moment the car finally fires up after a complex diagnostic reset, delivering a rare rush of relief and confirming that the project is technically feasible, even if coolant leaks and multiple damaged components loom ahead. Matt’s narration emphasizes both the thrill and the practical challenges of using a mix of dealer-sourced parts and intelligent cross-referencing with other vehicles to avoid edge-case OEM pricing. He highlights that much of the front end is Mercedes-AMG-derived hardware, which guides his parts strategy and compatibility research as he inventories what is damaged and what can be reused. The session blends hands-on mechanical work with strategic sourcing, as he begins to strip the front end, assess the steering inquiry, and plan the step-by-step rebuild.

Questions answered

What allowed the Aston Martin Vantage to start after the initial failure to communicate with the ECU?
Resetting the crash data and bridging the fuse connection enabled the diagnostic system to recognize the car, which along with a jumper pack allowed the engine to crank and start.
Why did the creator look for a non-OEM workaround for the inner tie rod?
Aston Martin did not list a separate inner tie rod for this model, and the complete steering rack was priced very高; a cross-reference found a similar inner tie rod for a Jaguar XF, enabling a cheaper fix.
What was a major coolant-related constraint observed early in the rebuild?
Although the engine started, there was no coolant in the expansion tank, indicating a coolant leak somewhere in the front-end radiators and associated cooling components.
How does the video approach sourcing parts for such a high-end car?
The video shows cross-referencing parts across brands, using non-OEM parts where feasible, and leveraging secondhand markets and local suppliers to avoid exorbitant OEM prices.
